"Glimpsing Breck Ness",

"Water on shingle, the way breakwaters are swallowed and then given back, waves bursting on their pebble filled forms, chattering birds patrolling the tide line, harbours and quays pushing seaward, rock pools, worlds born twice each day, sand blown against rocks to be then blown away, the clank and tapping of rigging, brightly coloured fishing boats coming and going, the moving edge between land and sea, walking on wet sand, the way clouds draw on the sea without stopping, walking with you through dunes anticipating that first glimpse and never being disappointed, walking over large pebbles as they rock, silence broken by oyster catchers, cormorants skimming, wind blowing, spray soaking, salty lips, flapping sleeves and sand filled shoes, sitting on the sand and looking, touching the wind, gulls in the harbour waiting for the opportunity, the way buoys bob, the harbour entrance, numbers and letters on boats, paint on paint, ropes around bollards, fish boxes piled, painted piers, promontories and horizons, water filled footprints……….. "
